In this article we will suggest the best defenders for FIFA 17 Career Mode that you should be able to use in your club. Keep in mind that the best players for us may not be for you. It depends of your club, other players, formation, transfer budget, wages budget, play style, preferences, etc…
To select the best players, we have mainly into consideration their stats, potential and age. That’s why a few old players are not in this list. Someone who will not be playing for more than two seasons in our club is not such a good buy as someone who will play for five or six seasons.

Hey Rodrigo I’m just wondering something. So you put Mustafi at 4th place for best CB’s in Fifa 17 Career Mode and that is understandable. However I was looking through your other lists and I saw that Gimenez is also a great CB. So my question is why did you put Mustafi and not Giemenez as the 4th best CB in Career Mode… Considering that they both have the same rating, same potential, but Gimenez is 3 years younger than Mustafi and according to you has amazing defensive stats at such a young age. You also specifically point out that you chose Mustafi as 4th over guys like Thiago Silva or Pepe because he is younger than them and can be used for more seasons. Well Gimenez can be used for even more time. Plus Gimenez plays for Atletico Madrid which is a top European club, so he’s definitely capable of playing at the highest level even if he’s pretty young. I’m just wondering why you did this?

Well, you question makes sense but before Gimenez we also have three other young players that are worst placed than Mustafi.
All you said is true: the age, the potential and the rating. If we were analysing only these three things, GimĂ©nenez would be better than Mustafi. However, we made a deeper analysis and, in our opinion, Mustafi is better than the young Argentinian player. GimĂ©nez has good defensive stats but not as good as in the other stats. If you compare the attributes of both players, Mustafi is better in 20 and GimĂ©nez in 8. Besides that, these 8 attributes in which GimĂ©nez is better is always just for a few points. Some attributes make the difference when you are controlling the player in the field. That’s the case of ball control, short passing, stamina, balance and reactions. Mustafi is better than GimĂ©nez is all of them.

The slowest should play in the middle. Usually he should be also the taller one. To decide who plays on the left and on the right you need to look to their preferred foot.

Neuer is likely aging so I would say you should have a replacement lined up for him, probably De Gea or Donnarumma.
Same goes for your strikers, a Dybala/Griezman & Higuain/Morata wouldnt be a bad combination.
I have had a Dybala/Morata partnership up front that has been terrific for me.
I had Griezman but didn’t like him very much…. I might try the others though
The potential we have published is an average potential. For who plays many times, it’s natural to get more than that potential.

In my career modes I usually tend to create 2 totally difrent team sheets. One which is my first team and one of lesser quality which is my second team. I rotate between them when one team has played recently and is tired. At the moment I’m playing as AC Milan and am wondering whether i should start to buy players to create a second team. What is your opinion and recommendation on this? Is it better to just invest money into a strong first team and buy a couple Subs which can rotate with other players.
