Q: Does FIFA 21 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S contain all the changes that have been added to FIFA 21 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One through Title Updates and other releases?
While EA have attempted to include as many of the changes and issue fixes that have been released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of FIFA 21 since it launched in October, there are some that were unable to be included in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X|S version in time for launch. This is because final development of FIFA 21 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S was still taking place when FIFA 21 was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. These changes will need to be added later via Title Updates or via Server Releases.
Most of these items are fixes for issues, or minor changes. The most notable is that the Connection Monitoring functionality will not be available for use on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S at launch and will be added at a later date.
Q: Will my progress on PlayStation 4 transfer to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S?
All progress you make or content you acquire within FIFA 21 Ultimate Team (including players, items, coins, FIFA Points, match record, and leaderboard placement), as well as all progression in VOLTA FOOTBALL will transfer from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and back, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S and back. Progress within all other modes including Online Seasons, Co-Op Seasons, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, etc. will be specific to the console you are playing on and won’t transfer between consoles.
Q: Will my pre-order content from PlayStation 4 or Xbox One carry over to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S?
If you redeemed pre-order content in FIFA 21 on PlayStation 4 you will continue to be able to receive and access that content, when using the same account, in FIFA 21 on PlayStation 5. If you pre-ordered FIFA 21 on PlayStation 4, but waited to play the game first on PlayStation 5, you will still receive the content on the applicable account.
If you redeemed pre-order content in FIFA 21 on Xbox One, you will continue to be able to receive and access that content, when using the same account, in FIFA 21 on Xbox Series X|S. If you pre-ordered FIFA 21 on Xbox One, but waited to play the game first on Xbox X|S, you will still receive the content on the applicable account.
Q: How do returning user rewards work in FUT 21 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S?
Players that were eligible for returning user rewards in FUT 21, and who have already logged their eligible accounts into FUT 21 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, would have already received their rewards and will not receive additional rewards on that account when logging into PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S for the first time.
Players that were eligible for returning user rewards in FUT 21, and who are logging into FUT 21 on their eligible accounts for the first time on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, will be able to claim their returning user rewards. Keep in mind that the above only applies when moving from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S and from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.
Q: Will PlayStation 5 players be able to match up and play against PlayStation 4 players? What about Xbox Series X|S players with Xbox One?
A: Players will be able to matchmake with each other based on the version of FIFA 21 that they are playing.
When playing the PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 21, players will be able to match up and play each other regardless of whether or not they are playing it on the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 (i.e. users playing the PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 21 on the PS5 console using backwards compatibility). Same for the Xbox One version of FIFA 21, where players will be able to match up and play each other regardless of whether they are playing it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. When playing the PlayStation 5 version of FIFA 21, players will only be able to match up and play each other on PlayStation 5. Same for the Xbox Series X|S version of FIFA 21, where only players on Xbox Series X|S will be able to play each other.
Q: Do any competitions cross over between PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 or between Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One?
A: ou cannot matchup and play online against someone on a different version of FIFA 21 than the one you are using. However, some modes in FIFA 21 will have shared leaderboards/event tracking between PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, or between Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
This includes:
FUT Champions Weekend League Top 200
FUT Squad Battles Top 200
FUT Division Rivals Ranks
This specifically refers to the percentage of the competition that is used to determine the Weekly Point requirements per Rank.
Event Objectives.
Both Team Events and Community Events.
For example, this means that players playing on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 would be included together in the Top 200 for Squad Battles on PlayStation, and that players on both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One would be included together in the Top 200 for Squad Battles on Xbox.
Q: Will matchmaking work the same on FIFA 21 Next Generation Console (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S)?
A: With supplies of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S limited at launch, we know that the FIFA 21 player populations on those platforms will be smaller than the FIFA 21 populations on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This may lead to an increase in the time it takes to find a match in some of the online modes in the game.
